We look forward to your participation in the second Jerusalem Conference on the Digitisation of Cultural Heritage and invite you to submit a proposal to present a poster at the two poster sessions.

  1. Tuesday November 29
  2. Wednesday November 30

Posters are called in the following areas.

  1. Digitisation Project Planning (The Reasons for the project, Human Resources, Research, Risks)
  2. Selecting Source Material for Digitisation (Establish Selection Criteria, Selection Against the Criteria)
  3. Preparation for Digitisation (Hardware; Software; Environment)
  4. Handling of Originals (Moving and Manipulating Original Material)
  5. The Digitisation Process (Using Scanners; Using Digital Cameras; Software Applications for Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
  6. Preservation of Digital Master Material (File Formats; Media Choices; Migration Strategies)
  7. Meta-Data (The Scope of Meta-Data Used for Object Description; Appropriate Meta-Data Standards)
  8. Publication (Image Processing; 3D and Virtual Reality Issues; Online Publication)

Presenting posters in the exhibition hall

The goal of the poster sessions is to provide a showcase for you to present your work in a clear and concise manner and will be displayed on a poster board 1x2 meters in the exhibition hall during the conference.

  • The goal of the poster sessions is to provide a showcase for you to present your work in a clear and concise manner and will be displayed on a poster board 80x120 centimetres in the exhibition hall during the conference.
  • Design your poster to be visually attractive to conference attendees

  • Select type that is at least 12 point, 18 point for headings so that your poster may be read at a distance of 1 meter.
  • Focus on your main message clearly – describe your work in short paragraphs or bullet points.
  • Conference attendees may only have a few minutes to understand your work and your poster needs to present your message effectively.

Submissions of posters for the conference

Posters will include an overview of the work to be presented in the planned poster described in no more than 500 words Submission deadline October 31 2005

The submitters of proposed posters will be notified by November 7 2005 on their acceptance. They should prepare an abstract for publication in the conference proceedings following the instructions below.

Instructions for Preparing the Poster Abstract

Size: Single A4 page
Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
Margins: 2.5 cm. On all sides of the page.
Title: CAPITAL LETTERS, on top of page, bold, centered.
Author(s): Skip two lines after abstract title. Appropriate upper and lower case letters with presenting author underlined. Centered.
Affiliation: Skip one line after author(s) names, Italic. Centered. Please include e-mail of the contact person.
Text: Skip two lines and type the text, 1.5 lines spacing, justified (block).
